(Family) Ode to Byron Katie

If you know Byron Katie and "The Work", then you will understand this poem. Unfortunately the person I wrote this for did not get it.

Katie teaches you to question you thoughts if they are causing you misery or suffering. Ask is the thought true. Then ask is the thought absolutely true. Then ask how do you feel when you think that thought. Then ask how do you feel when you don't believe the thought. Then you turn the thought around.

You see in others what you can not accept in yourself. You often project onto the other person your own faults.

I like the saying, "I had a lot of troubles in my life. 99% of it did not happen."

Ode to Byron Katie

You say I was not there for you.
Is that true?

Maybe you did not see me through your own tears.
Maybe you did not hear me through your own soundless grief.
Remember I have loved you since your birth
And before.
My time is speeding by,
Yet you say I was not there for you.
Is that true?

How do you feel when you think the thought, "I was not there for you"?

How do you feel when you think the thought, "I was there for you"?

Now turn it around and you will see: I was there for you but you were not there for me.
